Confused disco è un progetto della della Mantra Vibes ( la lebel che ha prodotto alkuni rmx di Fabrizio Mammarella, ed molti altri boosta, scuola furano) oltre la Bear Funk rec uk(Fabrizio ) di solito è alle canarie..ti do conferma cmq mi dovrei sentire con fabrizio..cmq grazie x l'info
CONFUSED DISCO concept...
Il CD che avete tra le mani raccoglie alcuni brani pubblicati dall'ITALIAN RECORDS in un periodo compreso tra il 1978 e il 1982. Oltre alle versioni originali, troverete alcuni nuovi remix prodotti da DJ motivati dalla curiosita' (e noi vogliamo credere anche dall'attualita') di quelle registrazioni. Alla ricerca del titolo da dare a questa raccolta, avevamo preso in considerazione titoli come "From the Big Apple to Motor City via Bologna" o "From Disco to Dance via New Wave": cercavamo un titolo capace di esprimere la contaminazione tra esperienze musicali diverse, lontane tra loro anche geograficamente, che aveva caratterizzato gli esordi della ITALIAN RECORDS. Alla fine abbiamo scelto il titolo CUNFUZED DISCO: "DISCO" in riferimento alla DISCO MUSIC che esplodeva agli inizi degli anni 80 e "CONFUZED" come rimando ai CONFUSIONAL QUARTET e, con loro, a tutti i gruppi che incisero per I'ITALIAN RECORDS.
Nei primi anni 80 escono dall'Italia (solo per citarne alcuni) brani come Tarzan Boy, Survivor, I Like Chopin, Dolce Vita, Vamos alla Playa, Easy Lady interpretati da Baltimora, Mike Francis, Gazebo, Ryan Paris, Righeira, Spagna. Gli autori di queste produzioni mescolavano la DISCO MUSIC americana con la Balera italiana senza timore di utilizzare lingue straniere (inglese, francese, spagnolo); nonostante la pronuncia a volte approssimativa e gli arrangiamenti giudicati eccessivamente semplici, queste produzioni ottengono un riconoscimento commerciale internazionale spesso negato ad autori e artisti ben piu' quotati sul mercato nazionale. E' la ITALO DISCO, quasi un "genere musicale" a se stante, un fenomeno che apri' mercati internazionali in precedenza preclusi alla musica italiana. La leggenda vuole che il termine ITALO DISCO fosse stato coniato da Bernhard Mikulski fondatore della ZYX MUSIC in Germania. Ricordare qui Mr. Mikulski e' un omaggio dovuto perche' sicuramente fu il primo a credere, fuori dall'Italia, a queste produzioni dandole quella visibilita' che stentavano a trovare in Italia .
Nel fiorire di etichette votate alla ITALO DISCO, l'ITALIAN RECORDS ha caratteristiche del tutto peculiari. Bologna e' la sede della piu' antica universita' europea, conta piu' di 60.000 studenti fuori sede provenienti da ogni parte del mondo. Nel 1977 Bologna fu testimone di un importante movimento studentesco caratterizzato non solo da una forte politicizzazione, ma anche dalla voglia di sperimentare nuove forme di comunicazione. E' in questo contesto che nel 1978 nasce l'ITALIAN RECORDS: per prima scova in giro per il mondo e pubblica in Italia i dischi dei Tuxedomoon, Bauhaus, Clock DVA, DNA, Arto Lyndsay, Peter Gordon, Throbbing Christle , Chrome, Lounge Lizard, Lydia Lunch, Peter Gordon, Birthday Party, X e tanti altri ancora; al contempo L'ITALIAN RECORDS realizza produzioni di artisti italiani sui quali la discografia ufficiale non avrebbe mai osato investire: Skiantos, Gaznevada Confusional Quartet, Luti Chroma, Windopen, Naphta, Andy J. Forest, Stupid Set, Art Fleury, N.O.I.A. Kirlian Camera.
In quegli anni, tra Musica rock e musica da ballo c'era una sorta di incomunicabilita' ideologiazzata e, come accade sempre quando si cercano distinzioni in base a stereotipi ideologici, si dava il via alle peggiori omologazioni: si classificavano mode, oggetti, costumi di vita, si cercano certezze si creavano stupide gabbie. La DISCO MUSIC era considerata "politicamente" di destra come il caffe', la vasca da bagno e la Mini Minor, mentre, il the, la doccia e la Due Cavalli erano di sinistra con il ROCK e la NEW WAVE. Forse fu proprio nel superamento di questa classificazione ideologica che si pu� cercare la differenza delle produzioni marchiate ITALIAN RECORDS: gli artisti dell'ITALIAN RECORDS non suonavano nelle balere, ma nel circuito dei locali underground e quando i produttori dell'etichetta bolognese cominciarono a guardare anche alle sale da ballo non si ispirarono solo alla DISCO MUSIC, ma anche alla NEW WAVE inglese, alla NO WAVE di New York o al PUNK ROCK di Los Angeles. Oggi, a piu' di vent'anni di distanza, proponiamo di nuovo alcuni di quei brani dell'ITALIAN RECORDS recuperando, attraverso nuovi remix, anche l'originale piacere per la contaminazione.

In addition to the original versions, you will find a few new remixes made by the same number of DJs motivated by curiosity (and we would also like to believe by interest) in those recordings. In searching for the title to give to this collection, we considered titles such as "From the Big Apple to Motor City via Bologna" and "From Disco to Dance via New Wave." We were trying to render that idea of contamination of different musical experiences and distance from each other (also geographically) that over a five-year period had characterised the debut of Italian Records. In the end we chose CUNFUZED DISCO, where the word "DISCO" is a clear reference to the DISCO MUSIC that exploded in the early 1980's and the word "CONFUZED" is a reference to the CONFUSIONAL QUARTETS and, with them, to all the artists that recorded for Italian Records.
Just to name a few, tunes such as Tarzan Boy, Survivor, I Like Chopin, Dolce Vita, Vamos alla Playa and Easy Lady interpreted by Baltimora, Mike Francis, Gazebo, Ryan Paris, Righeira and Spagna came out in Italy in the early 1980's. The authors of these productions did not take the trouble to use foreign languages (English, French and Spanish), and mixed the American DISCO MUSIC with Italian dance hall music. Despite the pronunciation that was at times imprecise, and arrangements judged too simple and na�ve, these productions obtained an international commercial recognition denied to authors and artist� �much higher rated on the domestic market. ITALO DISCO � almost a "musical genre" in itself � was a phenomenon that opened up markets previously barred to Italian music. The story goes that the term ITALO DISCO was coined by Bernhard Mikulski, founder of ZYX MUSIC in Germany. Mentioning him is homage due because surely Mr. Mikulski was the first one outside of Italy to believe in these productions, and he offered that credibility from Germany that these products often do not find in Italy.
As labels devoted to ITALO DISCO bloomed, Italian Records had its own, entirely peculiar characteristics, differences motivated by the backgrounds (and not only musical) of its producers. Italian Records was established in Bologna in 1978. Bologna is the home of Europe's oldest university, and numbers more than 60,000 students from out of town who come not only from other Italian cities, but from the world over. In 1977 Bologna witnessed a powerful students' movement characterised both politically and by its ability to test new forms of communication. It was in this context that ITALIAN RECORDS came into being in 1978. It was the first to track down around the world and publish in italy the records by the Tuxedomoon, Bauhaus, Clock DVA, DNA, Arto Lyndsay, Peter Gordon, Throbbing Christle, Chrome, Lounge Lizard, Lydia Lunch, Peter Gordon, Birthday Party, X, and still others. At the same ITALIAN RECORDS made productions of Italian artists in whom the official record industry would never have dared invest, such as Skiantos, Gaznevada Confusional Quartet, Luti Chroma, Windopen, Naphta, Andy J. Forest, Stupid Set, Art Fleury, and N.O.I.A. Kirlian Camera.
During those years, there was a sort of ideological lack of communication between rock and dance music and, as always happens when distinctions based on ideological stereotypes are sought, the worst kind of standardizations took root. Fashions, objects, lifestyles were categorized, certitudes were looked for, and stupid pitfalls were created. DISCO MUSIC was ideologically considered right wing, like coffee, the bathtub and the Mini Minor, whereas the shower and Citroen 2CV were left wing along with ROCK and NEW WAVE. Perhaps it was precisely in getting past this ideological classification that the difference of the productions bearing the ITALIAN RECORDS label can be looked for. The ITALIAN RECORDS artists did not play in the dance halls, but rather in the underground club circuit, and when the Bologna label's producers started taking a look at the dance clubs, they drew inspiration not only from DISCO MUSIC, but from the English NEW WAVE, New York's NO WAVE and Los Angeles' PUNK ROCK as well. Today, twenty years later, we are presenting a few of those ITALIAN RECORDS songs once again while also retrieving that original delight in contamination through new remixes.
